Ingredients
1 glass gallon jar with lid
3 family size Lipton Tea bags
1 1/2 c lemon juice
water
ice
Directions
Fill jar to 2 inches from the top with water. Add tea bags. Set jar in the sun for 4 – 5 hours depending on your taste, for a lighter tea, 4 hours, for more tea taste, 5 hours. Add lemon juice and sugar. Stir well to dissolve sugar. Add ice and enjoy!
I use one gallon of water, 8 regular Lipton tea bags and 3/4 cup sugar. Stir the sugar in before adding the tea bags. I take a clothes pin and pin together the bags and hang them over the edge of the tea jar then ***** on the lid. Leave in hot sun for 4-5 hours. Take out the bags, squeezing them first into the jar. Stir it up again and pour over a large glass of ice. This may not be as sweet as in NC/SC or further south. You need a whole cup to get it that sweet. About 6-7 years ago people started to say sun tea may have too much bacteria from sitting out. I’ve never gotten sick and make my tea this way all summer. Good luck.
