hynes

Depends on the baby. I would suggest to avoid spicy food and don't drink so much ice tea. I've heard that drinking warm tea with lots of milk is good for breastfeeding, but that was heard from "old school" moms. I personally breastfeed my baby and drink a cup of tea with milk occasionally.

It's the caffeine that you have to be careful of. It gets into your breastmilk and baby will get it too.....

caroline

Yeah, I would slow down on the caffeine. There is much more caffiene in tea than there is in coke and my doc told me not to drink more than 3 glasses of coke per day while breastfeeding.

artco

I'm not sure where the person who said that drinking tea can cause bladder problems in your baby got their information.. never heard that in my life.

I love iced tea and I drink 4-5 glasses a day too and it doesn't bother my baby in the least. Some people have said their babies are bothered by caffeine, though.

matos

drink decaff tea and then you don't have to worry about the caffeine...I drink 2-3 cans of Pepsi a day and my baby is doing fine....I didn't eat alot of spicy food in the beginning but do now and she does fine...it's all about trial and error....just try and eat onions and peppers and see if it affects her....

leah

I'd avoid anything with high amounts of caffine in them.
(which is tea)!

pero

Most babies are not bothered by anything you eat. Tea has much less caffeine in it than coffee, so 4-5 glasses shouldn't be a problem. IF you note that baby is fussy/wakeful, try cutting back.

There is NO need to routinely avoid any foods, including spices, onions or peppers. Again, IF you notice that baby is fussy after you eat them (baby can be sensitive to just about anything), try eliminating/cutting back on the offending food and see if it helps.

adro

your baby consumes anything you consume. tea will cause your baby not to sleep as well and cause bladder problems.
