Do family research, find the descendants of the people who owned you ancestors and ask them for restitution.

My ancestors fought on the side of the North and never owned slaves.

My husbands ancestor was a preacher who preached from the pulpit the evils of slavery. The good citizens were so mad, they burnt down his church and his home.

The best thing for a person of African descent is to make their ancestors proud by working to improve your life.

LLORT3, my great-great-grandfather and his brother voluntarily left their family’s farm in rural Illinois and joined the Illinois 114th Infantry to fight to end slavery. They were captured and imprisoned at Andersonville Prison. Miraculously, they both survived that horror. Most slaves were in the South. We should all be VERY thankful that the North won that war or our country would be VERY different now. Where’s the gratitude to the North???

It’s time to stand up and fight for the Constitution otherwise we will lose our freedoms. It is time to take our country back out of the hands of these socialists. It is not about Republican or Democrat. Both parties have let us down. It is about preserving the integrity of our Constitution and getting rid of those whose agenda is to usurp it for their own ideological ends. Let the revolution begin!

you’re right but you must get away from this right vs left agenda…. The goal of the ******** left is to collapse the USA, read the book ‘rules for radicals’ by saul alinksy, overload the system to change the system. This movement is beyond party politics and its about the people taking a stand for our rule of law and the foundation of America. Everyone deserves some help but their must be line drawn and the people most be motivated to make want they want out of their life.

this video is amazing and gets to the heart of the situation at hand it has ABSOLUTLEY nothing to do with RACE or AGE… or WAR… it is about the horrible path this president is BULLyING his way down. He has made a mochary of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and be-littled the AMERICAN PEOPLE ( all ages and races)! He has brought shame to our country and has made us look like weak cowards, Wake up and STAND STRONG AMERICA!!! IMPEACHMENT is coming if he does not straighten up! WORK FOR THE PEOPLE!

While this was well done, and hats off for that of course, it does not represent the view of all Americans. War is glorified for one thing as well as one of the most unlawful wars, Iraq. This is a Republican slant and does not take in the full picture of the circumstances at hand. USA came inches from collapsing and still might, so there is more to consider than being patriotic, the picture is much bigger than this.

Well if you want reparations get them from them Democrats since it was Lincoln and the Republicans that ended slavery.

I think the thousands of union bodies’ blood, lost income, lost husbands of wives and fathers of children on your ancestors’ behalf that the north spilled is restitution.

They dont need them. It is those exact things that are preventing them from succeeding. at times you have to see the bottom fall out to realize your true potential. I know too many black people that make it every day in spite of those exact things you mention. It will get worse with socialized medicine. These things make one dependent on people that advance those enslavement items. Like it or not those that force them on you and others are slave masters. Become your own man and brake the chains.

Llort3 – If it’s so hard for poor you – why don’t you stop wasting time whining here and go get a job. Do you think complaining here is going to bring you success? Focus your anger on helping yourself and not blaming others. Or go help a minority get out of poverty. You are completely unproductive and it has nothing to do with being a minority. It’s you OWN “poor” character.

I can’t reply to llort3’s comment so here it is, it’s hard but very easily acheivable if you use your recources to get out of poverty, doesn’t matter if your black, white, Latino, or Asian. As long as you get through school with out any distractions, anyone could acheive success. We have equal oppurtunities. If you work hard your whole life there’s a prize. Respect. No drug dealer gets that type of respect. It’s a clean respect, not a dirty respect.

Congrats, you realized, unlike some, that it is about what you make your life to be. It’s not about what was handed to you. Only an attitude where it’s someone else’s responsibilty to make you successful can hold you back.

  18. Scooterheadmom Says:

    ernesing

Wow, powerfull. All the restituiton speakers realize that you need to move on. America is based on what you can achieve if you work hard, not if it is handed to you. Handing you money just because your realitives were slaves does nothing for anybody, just puts us further in debt. Remember the people who died to make you, and everyone else free, and be grateful you now have a President that shows skin color means noting. Only your attitude does.

  19. LLORT3 Says:

i don’t think just living in USA by birthright is restitution at all, since whites are living here too

i think restitution means paying the descendants of slavery back for centuries of oppression and theft

  20. mastersman1 Says:

    kimberly

Restitution. Only guilty people can pay restitution. Nobody alive in America has ever owned a slave. By your standard of thought I will take restitution for my families plantations in Va, and NC, lost in an illegal war. Restitution for slavery is the blessing of living in the greatest country in the world, and not in a land where poverty, rape, and Aids dominate the continent.

  21. LLORT3 Says:

    ana

i do not think anything you said is in any way restitution for the crime of slavery, no

  22. geniemaker Says:

    willki

Don’t you think the 110K Union soldiers who lost their life in the Civil War to end slavery wasn’t enough “restitution”?
Get over it and get a life. Talk to billionaire Oprah, multi-milinaire ball players, the leader of the Republic National Party, the Head of the Dept of Justice, ad nauseum, and all black.

your anecdote aside, it is much harder to get out of poverty than you think

    especially if you are black

the resources minorities need — like affirmative action, unemployment assistance, universal healthcare, and welfare — to get out of poverty are taken away from them by well meaning conservatives

  25. RURC Says:

    stamey

I completely disagree. I know many ‘minorities’ that have pulled and worked themselves out of that situation. The problem with most ‘minorities’ as told to me by ‘minorities’ is the attitude.

I have been told, and I quote “My brothers and sisters need to quit thinking that things are owed to them. We were a proud and strong people and we need to stand up and take care of our selves. Relying on any entity will not get us ahead”. This was said to me at a tea party by a friend, to you a minority.
